Feed Additives

Registration of feed additives, feed materials, ‘diet-feed’ and feed safety

Commission Regulation (EC) 429/2008 lays down guidelines concerning applications for authorisation of feed additives, to establish a positive list of feed additives in accordance with Regulation (EC) 1831/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council. SCC sucessfully prepared 36 application dossiers for re-authorization in 2010 and is currently assisting the feed additive industry in establishing numerous new application dossiers.

Because the head of our Feed & Food Additives and Veterinary Medicine Department used to be the head of the Dutch delegation on Animal Nutrition working together with the European Commission, SCC has the best knowledge of all regulations and European processes. SCC has direct contacts to all relevant players and can bring them all together.

With the publication of Regulation 767/2009/EC, a new Community Catalogue of feed materials will be established. Also for feed intended for particular nutritional purposes (‘diet-feed’), application dossiers have to be made demonstrating that the specific composition of the feeds fulfils the particular intended nutritional purpose and that it has no adverse effects on animal and human health, the environment or animal welfare. The establishment of application dossiers and other scientific services are the core business of SCC, let us take care of these dossiers for you!

Regulation (EC) 183/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 January 2005 laying down requirements for feed hygiene, includes the obligation for each feed business operator to put in place, implement and maintain a permanent written procedure based on HACCP principles. SCC can assist companies with the establishment, modification or with audits of their HACCP-system.
