The closer we get to Brexit, the more likely it is that the UK leaves the EU on 29 March 2019 with no agreement in place (hard Brexit).

In their e-bulletin on January 17, HSE’s biocides team provides a detailed table of information outlining the steps companies would need to take with respect to authorisations of their biocidal products and approvals of active substances in the event of a hard Brexit. The instructions in the table are very clear and speak for themselves.

Although there is nothing to add from a procedural perspective at the moment, we would like to point out that SCC will be happy to support the industry in its attempt to remain compliant with biocide regulations in the EU and the UK. Our services include:

  • Providing guidance
  • (Re)-submitting information to HSE
  • Transferring authorisations
  • Changing active substance suppliers
  • Submitting national applications to HSE, etc.
