European Parliament adopts new regulation on Europe’s organic agriculture
Date: 24 April 2018
On April 19th European Parliament has adopted the new legislation on EU organic farming rules thus repealing Regulation 834/2007. The new regulation, initiated in 2014, was adopted with 466 votes against 124.
As the organic farming sector has hugely grown in the last years, organic managed farms covering 6.7 % of Europe’s agricultural area (2016, EU-28), the new Regulation tries to adapt the regulatory framework for organic farming to these new circumstances and establish the basis for the further growth of this farming sector.

EU Agrochemical regulation system under scrutiny at the Agchem Forum in Nice, September 2018
Date: Dezember 2017
"Growing pains of EU agchem regulatory regime" is the article on the Nice conference by Robert Bicket entitled. Quoting a number of participants from authorities and industry, he paints a vivid picture of the difficulties and controversies currently surrounding the regulatory regime in the EU. SCC colleagues also participated actively in this lively discussion which detailed the prevailing complications and confusions. In a turn away from such controversies, the author then elaborated on the presentation given by SCC's Dr. Bernd Brielbeck on low risk substances. Of course the content of that presentation is already familiar to the readers of SCC’s Newsletter Vol. 17, No. 3, but here it can be re-visited from a refreshingly new and independent angle.
